How we verify free-plan limits

This site makes one kind of claim: what a tool's free plan or free trial includes, according to the vendor. Here's how each claim is produced.

Seg 01

Selection

  • A tool must use AI for a podcast job (recording, cleanup, transcription, editing or promotion), or be a free tool with free AI add-ons.
  • It must have a free plan or free trial stated on its official website. Without that, it isn't listed.
  • Candidates come from public discussion and the tools that appear repeatedly for podcast-production searches. Community posts tell us what people ask about. They are never a source for facts.
  • Payment, affiliate status or vendor requests don't decide inclusion or order. Tables are alphabetical.
Seg 02

Verification

  1. We open the vendor's official pricing or plans page.
  2. For comparison tables, we read the value in the Free column for each row. Where that cell is only an unlabeled icon, we make no claim.
  3. We record the URL, the access time (UTC) and a short quote for every claim in our internal research log. The public list is on the sources page.
  4. We use the vendor's own words for limits ("one-off", "lifetime", "Limited") rather than paraphrasing them into something more generous.
  5. Every tool entry shows its source link and the date it was last verified.

Analysis such as "can a weekly show stay free?" is our arithmetic on those published limits. It is labelled as such and is not a usage test. We don't publish ratings, scores or reviews of sound quality.

Tools considered but not listed (as of 2026-10-22)

  • Castmagic: its official pricing page showed paid plans but no free plan or free trial, so we couldn't verify free access.
  • Alitu: its pricing page showed a bot-verification challenge to our checker. We don't bypass access controls, so we couldn't verify it.
  • Krisp: it has a verified 7-day trial, but the product is positioned for meetings and calls rather than podcast production.

What we don't do

  • We don't invent or estimate limits, prices, rankings, ratings, reviews or user counts.
  • We don't copy vendor marketing copy beyond short quotations needed to state a limit accurately.
  • We don't track visitors. The site uses no analytics, cookies or third-party scripts.

Update schedule

Planned: a weekly link check, a monthly re-verification of every free-plan limit, and a quarterly content review. When a limit changes, we update the entry and its verified date. Reader reports go through our corrections process.
